BLACK ROSE

Behind a cage, trapped like a bird
Freedom lost, love lost, lost was the world
Trying to flutter the wings only to see them die
Weeping so softly, for none could hear her cry
She wipes those tears that fill her eyes
Visions of the past marquee the skies

Far away she can hear the waves
As they shatter against the rock face
Just like her dreams did that day
When her love was snatched away

He looked at her one last time
Kissing her cheeks, brushing her hair
She was dressed in a red velvet gown
For her it was the moment
For her it was just the right flair
The flower she picked at sunset that evening
As she walked towards him in her graceful pose

He looked at the sunset when he said

No light even from the moon above
The night was there, the darkness was new
Time was still as the shadows grew
She just looked at his face
But his eyes had an empty gaze
They didn’t say what she wanted to hear
No more did he want to hold her near

She still hears those words echo
Holding time, for she cant let the memories go
She kneels on the floor
